Laura Aldridge (MFA 2006) presents a new installation for Tramway's main gallery which reflects on her engagement with the relationship between art, craft and performance. Drawing together sculpture, textile, print and ceramics, Aldridge sets up a vivid and tactile environment inhabited by a variety of 'display-scapes' through which the viewer is invited to interact with the exhibition in various ways. Functioning both as exhibition and a site for collaboration and discussion, the installation will operate as a backdrop for dialogue about craft and contemporary art, creative processes, connections and collaborations.

Future Station: 2015 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art
January 24 – May 3 2015

practices in Alberta, including psychology, natural forces, detritus,
and austerity, this exhibit is an expression on what it feels like to be
an artist in Alberta.
Featuring several MFA graduates including Jay Mosher, Erik Osberg, Josee Ouellette and Scott Rogers.
University of Alberta Enterprise Square Galleries
10230 Jasper Ave.
Edmonton, Alberta
Canada
Future
Station: 2015 Alberta Biennial of Contemporary Art is an examination of
the creative practices at work with Alberta artists and ultimately an
expression on what it feels like to be an artist in Alberta. The title
is derived from an abandoned transit platform located under the civic
centre of the province’s capital, Edmonton. Future Station is in reality
both a physical and allegorical place of transition and stasis: part
urban mythology and part monument to the banality of dormant
infrastructure. It serves as a metaphor for the status of contemporary
visual culture in Alberta – it exists and functions as a potent vacancy
awaiting due recognition. - See more at:

Duncan Campbell Turner Prize winner
Duncan Campbell (MFA 1998) won the 2014 Turner Prize for his contribution to Scotland’s pavilion at the Venice Biennale. Responding to Chris Marker and Alan Resnais’ 1953 film Statues Also Die, Campbell’s It for Others included new work by choreographer Michael Clark.
Campbell makes films about controversial figures such as the Irish political activist Bernadette Devlin or the quixotic car manufacturer John DeLorean. By mixing archive footage and new material, he questions and challenges the documentary form.
