THE GRIND
JENNIFER BAILEY, BRANDON CRAMM, ALEX IMPEY, KATIE SCHWAB, MARIA TOUMAZOU
25 APRIL - 8 MAY, 2015
PREVIEW 24 April, 7 to 9 pm
VoidoidARCHIVE is pleased to announce The Grind, an exhibition of new work by Jennifer Bailey, Brandon Cramm, Alex Impey, Katie Schwab and Maria Toumazou. The artists, born variously throughout the 1980s, living recently or (mostly) currently in Glasgow, will present objects which respond to the arch/archive in flexible or in\flexible attitudes. Some objects shift within themselves, growing towards a particular dimension, and many come as a whole complete thing...holding their breath...waiting to fit in. Artist Lauren Hall arranges this situation within an exhibition.
As a group, the biography of these artists would probably read: from an outside place/came to study at Glasgow School of Art, graduated with an MFA in 201_/. All reflect intently on the situations within which artists work, and the conditions under which their work adjusts itself. Most might consider collaborating with peers or programming the work of others as part of their practice. A few get down about architecture.
AFTERPARTY: Paraphernalia, at The Poetry Club, 9 pm - late, with performances and readings by Gordon Douglas, Alex Rathbone and Richard Taylor. Moving image work by Erik Osberg and Urara Tsuchiya.
